Hi, I'm stuck on another tutorial. This time it's this one (http://
ezphotoshop.info/2008/04/07/web-20-clean-layout.html) to create a web
2.0'ish button. I've been able to do everything except my border
doesn't look right. I'm able to do step 2 but when I fill the
selection (minus the rounded corner), the new border overlaps part of
the old border and makes it look funny. It looks like it wasn't cut
up properly. I'm thinking it has to do with my rectangular marquee
selection but I'm not sure. Can anyone help me with solving this?
Maybe there's a better way to do it? Thanks!

That's ok, I figured it out. Thanks if someone tried to help.

For anyone else who's waiting for an answer as well...

You need to select the rounded square using the marquee tool with a
high level of precision. Try different arrangements, marching ants on
the line exactly, not on the line exactly, etc. and you will
eventually get it the right way.

Dude, just got home from a party, wife had to drive me home so bear with
me... Try to appreciate that Photoshop is not a linear program in the
sense that there is only one solution to any given problem you
encounter. There may be several different ways of achieving your
objective. If you're stuck, by all means ask for help but if you want to
learn the program (why else would you do these tutorials?) try to get
unstuck, by yourself, first. Also consider that the people that are
writing your tutorials might be Photoshop geniuses but they can't string
a sentence together or might not be writing in their native tongue.
Furthermore the people in this newsgroup who would help you out in a
heartbeat will get frustrated in a hurry if they think they're working
harder on a solution for your problem than you are. -S

Even if he was pissed when he said it, it is a quite sober view

I don't get it... I was working on it, figured it out, and posted the
solution for other people who might have wanted to know as opposed to
not working on the solution or working on the solution, figured it
out, and not let anyone know that I solved it. So what did I do wrong?

Engaged in conversation with someone suffering from a hangover. The
longer you live the more likely you are to avoid other people entirely.

Don't know!

BUT if I should ever want to make a "Web 2.0'ish button", I might contact
you.
